Scientists send people into space. The people who fly to space are called astronauts. Astronauts go to space to learn about stars and planets. They fly to space in big space ships.

Space is very cold. There is no air to breathe. Astronauts wear suits with big helmets. The suits keep them safe and warm outside the ship.
