Hurricanes are big storms. They start over warm ocean water. Sometimes they move to land.

What Makes Hurricanes So Dangerous?

Hurricanes have strong winds. The biggest hurricane can be as fast as a train! This could knock down a building. Hurricanes move seawater to land. That causes floods.

Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irma were big hurricanes. Irma was so powerful that it sucked up ocean water. This dried up some beaches. Both hurricanes caused great damage. It will take a long time to fix.

What Can You Do? Ask an adult what they will do. Some people give money. Some people give supplies.
