January 15th is Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

Martin worked for African American rights. He said everyone is equal. There were many laws that hurt African Americans. He tried to change the laws.

Martin believed in peace. He fought hard for equal rights. He led marches. He gave speeches. He met with people all over.

Martin is remembered as a hero. He gave a famous speech called “I Have a Dream.” His dream was that one day, skin color won’t matter. All that will be important is the kind of person you are.
