Women’s History Month

March is Women’s History Month. Let’s take a look at women who have made history!

Susan B (Brownell). Anthony (1820-1906) was an American civil rights leader, particularly involved in the women's right to vote.

Women could not vote. Susan B. Anthony thought this was unfair. She worked to change it. She gave speeches. She wrote. She started a movement [a group of people working together to change something]. Now women can vote because her hard work.

Hedy Lamarr was a famous movie star. She was also an inventor. She invented a secret way for the army to communicate. It led to many of the things we have today. Like cell phones.

Sonia Maria Sotomayor is a Supreme Court Justice. She helps decide if laws [rules set by the government] are fair. These decisions impact people today. They will also impact people in the future.
