What Lives Here?

Kelp lives here. Kelp is a type of seaweed. It grows underwater. Kelp needs sunlight and clean water to grow. When lots of kelp grows in the same area it is called a kelp forest.

Many types of sea plants and animals live here. Some fish eat the kelp. Some fish hide in the kelp. Kelp is an important part of this habitat.

Do you see the orange fish? This is a garibaldi fish. It is the California state fish. It lives here in the kelp forest. The garibaldi fish swims through the kelp forest. The kelp provides protection for the fish.
