Keep an Eye on the Sky

It is summer. You can play outside! But keep an eye on the
sky. The weather can change fast. Look at those dark clouds. They tell you a
storm is coming.

Storms bring thunder and lightning. They can also bring strong winds and rain. Storms can be dangerous. How can you stay safe? When you hear thunder, go inside.

If you are stuck outside …

• Stay away from
  trees.
• Stay out of
  water.
• Stay off sand.
• Stay away from
  hills.
• Squat low to the
  ground.
• Do not lie down.

If you are inside …

• Stay inside.
• Stay away from
  windows and doors.
• Do not use
  electronics.
• Do not use water.

The storm will end. Then you
can go back outside to play! But ask an adult first to make sure it is safe.
