National Night Out

Many
communities have a special event in August. It’s called National Night Out.

National Night Out brings people together. It’s like a party in the community. People turn on their porch lights. They come outside. They have block parties and cook-outs. They watch movies and play games. Police officers spend time with people in the community.

Police officers hand out prizes for games. Kids have fun with the officers.

Firefighters also
come to National Night Out, too! It’s fun to sit on a fire truck.

What Do You Think? Why do you think communities have National Night Out?
