What is a Shooting Star?

Have you seen one of these? Do you call it a shooting star? Shooting stars aren’t actually stars! They are meteors. Meteors are space rocks that fall to Earth. Meteors move very fast. They get hot when they move fast. They glow white when they get hot.

Sometimes a lot of meteors happen in one night. These are called meteor showers. Meteor showers happen when Earth passes through a group of space rocks.

Some meteor showers happen every year. Perseid is a meteor shower that happens every year. Perseid can be seen every August.

What Do You Think? When can you see more meteors? During the day or at night?
