These students are using a tool. It is called a magnifying glass. Magnify means to make things look bigger. This tool helps us see things. Things we cannot see with our eyes alone.

A microscope is another tool. It is also used to look at small things. This photo shows details. These are details of a butterfly’s wing. Magnifying the wing made it look bigger. Since it is bigger you can see the details better.

You can magnify things that are far away too. You can use binoculars. They help you look at objects on Earth. A telescope can help us look at stars and planets.
