Do All Birds Fly?

All birds have wings but not all birds can fly! Do you know why? Not all wings are the same. Not all wings have the same job.

Look at the hummingbirds. Their tiny wings can beat up to fifteen times per second. The distance from one wing tip to the other wing tip is less than two inches! That is called their wingspan.

Look at the penguin. Penguins cannot fly. Their wings are thin, flat, and broad. Penguins’ wings are made for swimming.

Look at the puffin. Puffins can fly and swim! They flap their wings in the air. They flap their wings under the water.

What Do You Think? What other birds can fly?
