Do Plants Eat Meat?

Yes! Some plants eat insects. They get vitamins from the bugs they eat. The venus flytrap attracts insects with its sweet smell. Its leaves are like claws. They snap shut when a fly lands on them.

The pitcher plant eats meat. Just like humans, they are carnivores. They are shaped like a tall, narrow tube. Inside of the tube there is a sweet-smelling nectar. But beware! The nectar is slippery. Insects get stuck inside and cannot get out.

Sundew plants have tiny, colorful tentacles. The ends have sticky droplets that trap insects. The sundew plant folds its leaves to capture its prey.
