We All Have a Story
The United States is full of people from different backgrounds. It is full of people with different beliefs. Each of them has a story. This month let’s look at the stories of several Jewish Americans.

This is Albert Einstein. In this picture, he is becoming a United States citizen. He was a famous scientist. He left Germany to avoid persecution [being treated badly for your race or religion] of Jews. He came to America. He lived in Princeton, New Jersey.

Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster were children of Jewish immigrants. They grew up in Cleveland. They moved to New York City to make comic books. They created a character called Superman. He was the first American superhero.

This is Emma Lazarus. She was
born in New York City. She was one of the first famous Jewish authors in
America. She wrote a poem called “The New Colossus.” It is displayed on the
Statue of Liberty. It welcomes immigrants to our country.
