How Do We See Traces of the Native American Cultures Today?

Long before Europeans came to America, Native Americans lived here. They still live here today. There are signs of their culture all around us.

This street sign is in Cherokee, North Carolina. It is written in English. It is also written in the Cherokee language. The Eastern Band of the Cherokee Nation is in charge of Cherokee, North Carolina.

You can visit historic Native American sites. This is Sky Rock, California. It has artwork that was made long ago. It is believed to be made by the Pauite people.

You might even see a trace of the past. A person walking in New Jersey found this tree. Do you notice its shape? It was made that way by the Leni Lenape group of Native Americans. They used trees like this to point out the way to special places.
