Glass is melted in a furnace. The furnace is very hot—hotter than lava! Glassblowers place a long metal pipe into the furnace. They roll it to get the glass out of the furnace.

Glassblowers use the metal tube like a straw. It is called a blowpipe. They blow air into the pipe. The air creates a bubble in the soft glass. Glassblowers mold the bubble into different shapes.
