Traveling Birds

Some animals make changes when the seasons change. Squirrels gather food to store during the winter. Bears hibernate or go to sleep. How do birds survive winter? Some birds move from one place to another place. They migrate.

In the fall, the weather changes. It starts to get colder. Birds fly south to warmer places. They migrate to find food and raise their babies. In the spring, they return home.

Some birds travel long distances when they migrate. Some birds fly in a V shape to save energy. This helps them to see so they do not bump into each other.
