If you throw a ball up in the air, it comes back down. Gravity brings the ball down. Gravity is a force that pulls things to Earth. Gravity affects all objects.

Sir Isaac Newton was the first person to study gravity. He was sitting under an apple tree. An apple fell from the tree and hit him on the head. He discovered that gravity made things fall to Earth.

The gravity of Earth keeps the Moon close. Gravity holds the other planets in place, too. We could not live on Earth without gravity. Earth’s gravity keeps us on the ground.
What Do Can You Do? Jump in the air and try to stay there. Think of ways to try and “beat” gravity’s pull.
