How Animals Use Camouflage

Animals use camouflage to survive. Camouflage is a way that animals blend in with their environment. Some animals are predators. They hunt for food. Other animals are prey. They are the food. Animals use camouflage to hunt for food and to keep safe.

Some animals are green, like frogs. Some animals are brown, like worms. Polar bears are white. They live where it is very cold. Polar bears have white fur to help them camouflage into the snow and ice.

Polar bears have hollow hair. Their hair is see-through! Polar bear hair reflects light. This makes polar bears look white. Polar bears use their white fur to sneak up on their prey.
