Helping When Disaster Strikes 

Look at the picture below. This building was damaged by an earthquake. An earthquake is a type of disaster. 

Disasters happen all over the world. Recently there was a terrible earthquake in Syria and Turkey. New Zealand had major flooding. Let’s look at how to help during a disaster.

Countries help each other during disasters. They donate money. They send supplies. Here you can see an airplane. It is dropping supplies. Sometimes that is the only way to reach places in a disaster.

Individuals can help too. They have fundraisers. They collect supplies. They donate food, water, and clothing.  You can help too! 

What You Can Do Check with local organizations that help people. See if you can donate household items.
