All Tied Up

Tying your shoes is a big deal. It takes lots of practice. Imagine kicking a ball with a shoe that is untied. Your shoe might come off and fly in the air! Shoelaces keep your shoes on your feet.

Shoelaces have been around for a long time. Laces were made of rawhide in ancient times. Rawhide laces held pieces of leather together. This formed a sandal to protect bare feet.

Today, shoelaces are made all over the world. They are made of materials and braided together. These tiny ropes do a lot of work. They keep our feet in our shoes!
