Pangolins – The Only Mammals Covered in Scales

Pangolins are mammals. Pangolins are not reptiles. They look like anteaters with scales. Pangolins have scales that cover their bodies. The scales are strong. They keep the pangolins safe. Predators cannot bite through their scales.

Pangolins have strong, sharp claws. They use their claws to dig and find food. Pangolins have long snouts and long tongues. Their tongues can be as long as their bodies! Pangolins use their sticky tongues to eat ants and termites.
