Summer at the Beach

Summer brings beach weather. That means the sun is shining. Put on a sun hat and go to the beach! Pack your sunglasses. Wear sunscreen, too.

Listen! The waves of the ocean roar. The waves rush onto the sand. Then the waves rush back. Some water gets trapped between rocks. It forms tidepools. Tiny sea animals live in them. It’s fun to look at tidepools. Be careful around rocks. Wear shoes that won’t slip.

You can build a sandcastle on the beach. First, fill a pail with wet sand. Next, set the pail upside down. Gently lift the pail. The shape may crumble a bit. That’s all right. Just have fun! Put shells or pebbles around your sandcastle.

The ocean is so big. You cannot see it all from the beach. Before you go into the water, are you with an adult? Good! Now stand at the water’s edge. Let the waves tickle your toes.

What do you think? What do you like best about the beach?
