Why Can You See Your Breath When It’s Cold Outside?

Brrr! It’s getting cold outside. Some days, you might be able to see your breath.
You breathe out. A cloud forms! What’s happening?

Your breath is warm and moist. It has different gases. You cannot see these gases. One gas is water vapor [the gas form of water].
When water vapor is cooled, it turns into a liquid.

You breathe out. Your breath hits the cool air. Tiny drops of water form in the air. You can see them. Clouds form in the same way.
