John Adams was the first president to live in the White House. He moved there in 1800. It wasn’t called the White House back then. Some people called it the President’s House. Some people called it the Executive Mansion. In 1901, it became the White House.

This is the White House dining room. While they are in office, presidents live in the White House. So do their families. Part of the White House is the Living Quarters. It is like many people’s homes.

This is the White House press room. Presidents do not just live in the White House. They also work there. Many people work in the White House. The area where people work is called the West Wing.
