Does Corn Sweat?

Last summer, many weather reports talked about corn sweat. We know that people sweat? But does corn sweat?

Corn gives off water. All plants do. And it isn’t really sweat. Plants use their roots. They take in water from the soil. The water moves through the plant. It evaporates from the plant’s leaves. This means it changes from a liquid to a gas [matter that is not solid or liquid].

The water goes into the air. The humidity rises. Humidity is the amount of moisture in the air. Humidity makes it feel hotter. It makes it feel “sticky.”

What Do You Think?    Why do you think it is called “corn sweat”?
