Where on Earth Is Nevada?

Nevada is in the southwest United States. Most of the state is a desert. It is very dry. It only rains about seven inches a year!

Nevada has several special areas. They are called national parks and monuments. Many people visit these areas. They hike trails. They look for wild animals. They also learn about the Native peoples who first lived in Nevada.

Have you heard of the Hoover Dam? It is a gigantic dam. It is as tall as a 60-story building! The dam holds back water. This water created a giant lake called Lake Mead. The lake’s water gives people drinking water. It also helps farmers grow food. It even makes electricity!
