There’s No Place Like Kansas!

The United States has 50 states. One of them is Kansas. Let’s find out more about it! 

Kansas is in the middle of the country. The state is named after a Native American group. Many Native Americans live in Kansas. They have lived there for a long time.

Kansas has many plains. Plains are big areas of flat land. This land is good for farming. People call Kansas the Sunflower State. Sunflowers are the state flower of Kansas!

Kansas became a state in 1861. The capital city of Kansas is Topeka. Long ago, many settlers came to Kansas. Settlers are people who move to a new place to live. Many of them became farmers.
