Festivals of Light

In November, it can seem dark for longer. Some countries have light festivals in November! 

The Yi Peng Lantern Festival is in Thailand.  People make lanterns. The lanterns have hot air inside them. This makes them float up in the air. 

Some lanterns are in trees or in water. The hot air in these lanterns can make them spin around.

There is a light festival on a street in Chicago, Illinois. This street is known as the Magnificent Mile. 

Lots of lights are placed on trees. This makes the Magnificent Mile very bright. There are fireworks as well. The fireworks light up the sky.

Amsterdam is a city in the Netherlands. The Amsterdam Light Festival is by the water. There are lots of pictures made from lights. Some buildings are lit up to make pictures, too.  

Some people walk around to see the lights. Other people travel on a bike or boat.
