Treasure: Stolen and Found!

What do you think of when you hear the word treasure?  

Treasure might be jewelry or art. It might be metals like gold or silver. Treasure might be very old.  

Some treasure is kept in museums. Some treasure is still waiting to be found!

The Louvre Museum is in Paris, France. There is treasure inside. There is jewelry. There are also many paintings. Some of these are very old. 

Some people stole some jewelry from the Louvre Museum! They stole crowns, necklaces, and earrings. They drove away with it on motorbikes.

Sometimes, lost treasure can be found! Many years ago in Florida, a hurricane caused some Spanish ships to sink. The ships were carrying treasure.  

A team of divers searched the ships. They found some very old silver and gold coins. The writing and the pictures on the coins can help us learn about the past.
