Where on Earth Is Australia? 

Australia is between the Indian Ocean and the Pacific Ocean. You can find Australia on a globe. Australia is on the other side of the world to the United States. 

Now it is winter in the United States. That means it is summer in Australia!

Sydney is a city on the coast in Australia. The Sydney Opera House is there. People go there to see concerts and plays.  

The roof was built to look like things you might find near the coast. It looks like seashells. It also looks like sails of ships.

The Great Barrier Reef is an area of Australia that has lots of coral. Coral are sea animals. They can look like colorful rocks. 

Many people like to see coral and other animals there. They swim with a small tube so they can breathe underwater.

Kangaroos are animals that hop on their back legs to move. Baby kangaroos are called joeys. Female kangaroos have a pouch. They keep joeys in the pouch until they grow bigger.  

Some kangaroos live in the Australian Outback. The Outback is a very large area. It is far away from most cities. It has mountains and deserts. Different animals and plants live there.
