This is Dolly Parton. She was a famous country music singer. She became known for so much more.
Dolly Parton was born in the Smoky Mountains. Her family did not have much money. They lived in a cabin. However, Dolly grew up happy. She loved music. Dolly Parton wrote more than 3,000 songs. She had many hits. She had country hits. She had pop hits. She had rock hits. She also starred in movies.

These children are getting free books. Dolly Parton started the Imagination Library. It mails free books to children. Last year, it mailed books to more than three million children.

This statue of Dolly Parton is in her hometown. Dolly Parton never forgot where she grew up. In 1986, she opened a theme park called Dollywood. It is in the Smoky Mountains. Dollywood brings many visitors to the Smoky Mountains.
Dolly Parton died on August 25, 2026. She was 80 years old. She was surrounded by her family. She will be remembered for her music. She will be remembered for her kindness.
