Remembering September 11

This year is the 25th anniversary of an event called 9/11. People will remember. They will remember people who were lost. They will remember people who were brave. At night, two lights will shine in the night sky. They will remind people of what happened.

These are the Twin Towers. They were part of the World Trade Center in New York City. They were some of the biggest buildings in the world. On September 11, 2001, they were destroyed. People who wanted to hurt America took over airplanes. They flew two airplanes into the Twin Towers. Many people died. Many people were hurt.

Over 1,000 police officers, firefighters, and rescue workers came to help. Thousands of people traveled to New York City to help.  We remember September 11. We remember the lives lost. We also remember the people who helped others.

What Do You Think? What questions do you have about 9/11? Talk to an adult about the events of that day. Ask them where they were and what their feelings were at the time. Ask them about how people helped each other on that day.
