Where on Earth Is Puerto Rico?

What is a US territory? This is land that is part of the United States. But it is not a state.  One US territory is Puerto Rico. People who are born in Puerto Rico are US citizens.

Puerto Rico is between the Caribbean Sea and the North Atlantic Ocean. Its nearest US state is Florida. The capital city is San Juan. Puerto Rico has a tropical climate. It feels warm all year long.

El Yunque National Forest in Puerto Rico. This is a tropical rainforest. This means it stays warm all year. It gets lots of rain. There are many waterfalls there.

Coquí tree frogs live in Puerto Rico. They use their toes to help them climb trees and leaves. 

These frogs make a very loud call. It can sound as loud as a lawn mower!
