Harriet Tubman was born in 1822. It’s 200 years later. People are celebrating her life. What do you know about Harriet Tubman?

This photo shows Harriet Tubman as an adult. She was born in Maryland. She was an enslaved person. In 1849, she escaped to Philadelphia. There were no enslaved people there.

Harriet Tubman went back to Maryland. She rescued her family. This picture shows some of her family. She helped other enslaved people escape, too.
