What is a territory? What is Thanksgiving like there?
Look at the map. California is on the right side. Do you see the islands? They are thousands of miles away. They are territories of the United States. A territory is land that belongs to a country. People who live in a territory obey the same laws as in the United States. The United States keeps the territories safe.
