Back-to-School Traditions Around the World

The first day of school has arrived. Many families have traditions. Some families take a picture to start each year. Others have a special breakfast.     

There are different traditions in different countries. Here are some examples!   

These Japanese children are wearing randoseru.A randoseru is a type of backpack. Randoseru are tough. Students use the same one for their first six years. Randoseru are useful. If you fall, the backpack is a cushion. If you are in water, the backpack floats.
