Misty Copeland joined a dance team when she was in middle school. Her coach saw she was talented. He told her to go to ballet school.
When Copeland was 15, she started winning prizes for her dancing. Later, she joined the American Ballet Theater. In 2015, she became their first Black female principal dancer. That means she was the best dancer.
